Painting

Painting – Classes are designed to offer something to all skill levels. Just as in the drawing classes, painting classes begin with a lesson on the basics. Because Paintings often take more than one class to complete there is not specified lesson for each class but will vary depending on the needs of the students in that class. Two types of paints will be featured, Gouche and Watercolor. Gouache (from the Italian guazzo, "water paint, splash") is a type of paint consisting of pigment suspended in water. Gouache differs from watercolor in that the particles are larger, the ratio of pigment to water is much higher, and an additional, inert, white pigment such as chalk is also present. This makes gouache heavier and more opaque, with greater reflective qualities.
